The Fall Guy
“Ryan Gosling’s charisma papers over a wobbly plot — and mostly gets away with it.”
- Action
- Comedy
- Romance
The Fall Guy wants to be two things at once: a breezy rom-com and a spectacular showcase for practical stunt work. It nails the second and fumbles the first.
The good
The action is genuinely thrilling, and the film’s affection for the unsung stunt community is infectious. Gosling and Emily Blunt have easy chemistry that carries long stretches.
The rough edges
The mystery plot is an afterthought, and the pacing sags in the middle third. It’s a movie that runs on vibes — fortunately, the vibes are strong.
Turn your brain off and it’s a good time. Ask too many questions and it wobbles.
